The Government announced internationalization-cum-globalization in 1994, and addressed English as an important linguistic tool to improve national competitiveness. Following the tide, the Research Institute for English Education of Sogang University has foreseen needs of specialized education for Korean children. SLP (Sogang Language Program) for Korean children was developed by grafting Sogang University’s English education tradition and educational philosophy.

SLP Headquarters was established in 1994. Since opening 7 schools in 1995, it has continued to grow. In 2011, SLP constituted Sogang Education Group Corporation which has a professional and systematic language education system.
